Happy International Women’s Day & Women’s History Month! This is my read-aloud of the picture book PERFECT MATCH: THE STORY OF ALTHEA GIBSON AND ANGELA BUXTON, written by Lori Dubbin and illustrated by illustrated by Amanda Quartey. 

This important and inspiring true story shows readers the power of determination. It tells the story of two talented and steadfast women who dreamed of playing competitive tennis and worked hard to achieve their goals despite many obstacles. Althea Gibson, who was Black, and Angela Buxton, who was Jewish, both faced discrimination during their tennis careers. 
When they teamed up as doubles partners, their friendship and determination helped them overcome barriers and make history together.
