But somehow, I still went ahead and chased my goal of becoming a full-time content creator. Along the way, I’ve been incredibly blessed. So many people and brands believed in me, and friends in the industry taught me so much. All of that shaped the creator I am today ❀️ Being the only independent creator to win in this category means so much to me. But more than that, it feels like a win for creators who care deeply about the craft they put out β€” all the late nights brainstorming, fine-tuning, and polishing things at the very last minute before submissions. At the end of the day, I think many of us creators just want to make good work β€” work that means something, work that people can relate to. And when that happens, and when the work gets recognised, those are some of the happiest moments for all of us. I’ve always had the habit of belittling my own capabilities. Even right after receiving the award, I was still in disbelief. But someone said something to me that stuck: 𝐴𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑑 π‘‘β„Žπ‘’ π‘Žπ‘€π‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘‘. π‘Œπ‘œπ‘’ 𝑑𝑖𝑑 π‘Žπ‘šπ‘Žπ‘§π‘–π‘›π‘”π‘™π‘¦ 𝑀𝑒𝑙𝑙. So here it is β€” a Gong Award for my series β€œAround the Block.” Thank you propertyguru for trusting me with the creative freedom to tell neighbourhood stories in a fun and meaningful way instead of doing a hard-sell ad. A huge thank you to my cinematographer marcus_choww for his keen eyes β€” because of that, we were able to see the neighbourhood through a different lens.
