Trigger warning - baby loss 🪽 - I am so excited for my first Mother’s Day as Winnie’s mummy, but I know that for those who have experienced baby loss, this day can be so emotional and heartbreaking.

In 2024, I found out I was pregnant with Dan and it was all we had ever wanted. I was thinking about potential baby names and bought so many little outfits. I even bought a Winnie the Pooh bear from Harrods that came in a beautiful little box. At the time I had no idea that the little girl I would one day have would be called Winnie.

Unfortunately, at 7 weeks pregnant we lost the baby. We heard the word nobody wants to hear “unfortunately there’s no heartbeat” 💔 I realised even more how much I wanted to be a mummy.

After that everything happened so quickly and I had to make some very emotional decisions about my miscarriage. I’ve spoken about this online before and I will again, but the whole process was so long and heartbreaking. I will never know whether I was having a boy or a girl, what their name would have been, or what they would have looked like (probably Dan if Winnie is anything to go off! 🥹). But I know they will always be a part of me and will forever be my angel baby.

In November 2025, exactly a year later, we welcomed our little rainbow baby Winnie 🌈 I still cannot believe it and I feel so so blessed. But becoming Winnie’s mum doesn’t erase the baby we lost, it just means my heart holds both grief and gratitude.

I have a lot to thank tommys for. Their platform is incredible for helping people through the heartbreak of baby loss, and they helped me so much. Half of UK adults have been affected by baby loss, and Tommy’s offers expert information and support services for people who need it before, during, or after pregnancy. They have just launched their “We See A Mum” campaign ahead of Mother’s Day to recognise every mum, no matter where they are on their pregnancy journey, and I had to be a part of it.

I will continue to share my story in hope I can make others feel less alone. I see all mama’s this Mother’s Day 🩷
