The massive Bombax tree at MFAStPete is now in peak bloom—and it’s one of StPeteFL’s most iconic trees. 🌺

Planted in 1965 by the museum’s first director, Rexford Stead, this remarkable tree began as a three-foot sapling and has grown into a living symbol of the museum’s story. For a short window each year, it erupts in vivid red blossoms that light up the lawn—an absolutely breathtaking sight that signals the spring season.
