Reflecting on Harland’s 2022 exhibition, ‘Imminent End, Rescheduled Eternally’ at White Cube Bermondsey, the show explored what the artist has described as ‘a perpetual imbalance’ – the tension between language and image, colour and form, and the visual and the emotional.⁠
⁠
In these works, which evolved from themes explored in earlier series, Harland focused on the language of paint: its materiality, seductive properties, colour range and styles of application.⁠
