📍🟡 Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirmed on Wednesday (11 March) that the government will maintain the RM1.99/litre subsidy on RON95 despite volatile oil prices.

“I informed the Cabinet to maintain the Budi95 subsidy for the people, even though it was a difficult decision to make. Market prices are much higher now, and the actual price is far higher, especially if you compare with neighbouring countries where it’s 3 times higher.”

📌 Oil prices surged past US$119 per barrel on 9 March following US-Israel attacks on Iran. The last time oil prices breached the US$100 mark was 4 years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine.

📌 Oil prices have continued to swing sharply amid mixed messages from US authorities on the Iran war and reports that the International Energy Agency is considering the largest release of oil reserves in history to stabilise global supply.

📌 UPDATE: Over 200,000 federal civil servants in Malaysia staying 8km away from their offices began working from home on 15 April, in accordance with a government circular. Sectors providing critical services are excluded from WFH arrangements. Meanwhile, the government has also urged private sector employers to adopt flexible work arrangements.
