Seven years ago, Colleen Gielda Smith donated her left kidney to her husband. Now she’s the Penn Center for Living Donation’s #livingdonor patient navigator. She does everything she can to minimize stress and anxiety for potential donors, letting them know she was once in their shoes.

“One of the things I feel I can do to help is to let them see a living donor who is, I always say, hopefully looking healthy that day,” Smith says.
