Howlin' good news: The Center-led campaign to build wildlife crossings in red wolf territory is moving forward.

Recently, the North Carolina Department of Transportation signed contracts with the Federal Highway Administration that will initiate design and construction of red wolf wildlife crossings along Highway 64, a highway that runs through the heart of red wolf country.

This effort comes after the Center and partners helped secure a $25 million federal grant for wildlife crossings in December 2024.

These wildlife crossings are a lifesaving solution for a species on the knife's edge of extinction who face considerable threats from vehicle collisions.

If you were among the many supporters who helped make this happen — thank you.

This video showing three generations of endangered red wolves together shows what could be possible for more wild red wolves with better safeguards, like wildlife crossings, in place.

📹: Many thanks to James Ford for sharing this amazing footage with us!
