For my friends and family that worry about me when I say I camp in random villages around France 

I cannot begin to explain how much more comfortable I feel travelling by myself today than this time last year, and it’s mainly down to French aires making me feel safer when I first went to Europe alone a year ago 

To be fully transparent I cannot afford to stay at a campsite the whole time I’m away and often I like moving somewhere new after one or two nights, so Park 4 night has always been a great tool to find spots that are really cheap or free. Finding out that camping Aires existed in France was the best thing ever, because they are purpose built sections built by local councils for camper-vans so you know you’re welcome in the community from the start

They normally have a 48 hour time limit, you pay for water and waste disposal (it’s nothing much at all) and you should absolutely make sure you’re contributing to the village and supporting local produce whilst you’re there. That part is a win win for me- bakery items every day yes please!
