I think it’s a Black father’s responsibility to impart certain values into their melanated daughters. Why? Because the world around us doesn’t do it.

It’s a Black father’s responsibility to teach his Black daughters to unapologetically love themselves first.
He should also teach them to love their beautiful skin, their beautiful hair and all of the features that they were blessed with. They are the first man that shows them what to expect from a man.

They should teach them how to teach people how to treat them.
They should teach them that they are worthy.
They should teach them that they can take up however much space they need.
They should teach them to be them, UNAPOLOGETICALLY!

It doesn’t get much better than this. And instilling the idea of defending Black Womanhood starts now because these moments are fleeting and before you know it, she’ll be blossoming into adulthood and we want her to be protected, respected, valued and cared for. 🖤
