All power comes from the people, and all power must ultimately be vested in them. When the Black Panther Party coined this term, they created it with the intention to restore power back into our communities by developing their own newspaper and cultivating a list of programs that would not only halt our people from becoming dependent on their oppressor, but as well as holding complete control of the institutions within their community.

Huey P. Newton stated that “Power To The People”, a term adopted by the revolution, was used to sum up the goals he held for the Black community, as well as the deep commitment and love the Panther Party held to them. Let us carry on these lessons and utilize them as we see fit. Support the institutions within our community, uplift our youth, detach ourselves from being dependent upon the oppressor. Let us continue to connect, love, uplift, and build within our community. Restore ALL power to the people!
