When I’m not working on Black Vibe Tribe, I’m trying to give my brothers and sisters that are incarcerated, an outlet through writing.

I am walking the path my ancestors paved for me and Friday’s route led me to the gates of Atlanta YDC with 40 notebooks in hand 📓🖤

The drive was long, (because we went during “Atlanna rush hour traffic” 🤦🏾‍♀️ We arrived at our destination and they had re-located. 😖 This is when my Mom turned around and gave me a look like this 👉🏾😑because I hadn’t done my due diligence by verifying the address before we started off. 🥴🥺😓. Luckily it was only another 15 minutes away, 😅but in my mind, this was the first step to impacting a demographic of kids whose stories are seldom heard or even acknowledged for that matter.

Perhaps they did something wrong, (like we all do because we’re human), or they were wrongfully accused because Black and Brown people are targeted or they’re simply a product of their environment and they’re paying the price for it. 😔

While at Atlanta YDC, I was asked to return to speak with the boys in the center, (upon getting a clearance), but since I’m under 18, I’d have to Skype into a virtual presentation that I’m in the process of convincing my Dad to do. 😬 The rep there told Dad that it’s crucial for the boys to see representation of themselves and to know that people on the outside care.
