We love San Francisco and New Orleans, so we were thrilled when the folks at ghirardelli introduced us to chef/restaurateur Brenda Buenviaje of brendasfrenchsf in the Bay Area! chef_buenviaje is well known for her take on the classic NOLA beignets—you know the ones. Delicious, deep-fried, and deeply satisfying.

We asked writer beckyduffett and photographer paulinechatelan to visit Brenda and get the details on her signature doughnuts and how she’s built her business. (Brenda also shared a recipe with us, so you can make her chocolate beignets at home.)
