## Caption

Today marks 15 years since the fourth-largest recorded earthquake struck Japan's Pacific coast, triggering a 128-foot tsunami wave that swallowed villages whole and triggered the biggest nuclear disaster since Chernobyl. In 2011, 60 Minutes visited the Japanese town of Otsuchi. Out of a population of about 15,000, roughly 1,500 people died in a matter of minutes. The earthquake was so powerful it lowered the ground level and shifted the entire island about eight feet eastward. #japantsunami #tsunami
