## Caption

Most sales teams stall for one simple reason.

You’re asking one person to do too much.

Many small companies hire a salesperson and expect them to prospect, qualify, run the call, close the deal, and manage follow-up.

That sounds efficient.

In reality, it slows everything down.

In one company we worked with, their closers were spending half their time chasing leads and booking their own calls.

We split the role.

Setters handled outreach and qualification. Closers focused only on running sales conversations.

Within a few months, two things happened.

Pipeline volume increased, and the company was suddenly able to recruit stronger closers—because the job was actually attractive.

There are trade-offs, of course.

But separating the sales cycle often expands your hiring pool, shortens training time, and improves retention.

Here’s something simple you can do today:

Look at your sales process and circle every task that doesn’t require closing skill.

Those are the first things to consider separating.

If you’re thinking about how to structure your sales team as you grow, we walk through this every week in our free webinar.

Thursdays at 11am MST / 1pm EST

Have you tried splitting the setter and closer roles yet?
