A Bookish Day in Pittsburgh Y’all are sleeping on Pittsburgh- all the big city charm in an affordable package. I visited once a couple years ago and was happy to make it back!  Do you also google “bookstores near me” when you get to a new place? Then give me a follow @bookmoretravels as I visit as many bookstores and bookish events as I can! White Whale Bookstore @whitewhalebks  Might be my favorite of the day! I specifically loved the PGH Prison Book Project where patrons could buy books for incarcerated folks! The Big Idea Bookstore & Cafe  While it was closed while I was there, I would like to go back. Vegan food, black coffee, and books plus more for anti capitalist and other causes.  Amazing Books and Records @amazingbooksandrecords  I went to two of their locations and. It seems to be the go to used bookstore chain in Pittsburgh! Plus they always get one free item after buying three! The Cozy Corner  While this was also unexpectedly closed while I was there it still seems like a gem.  Riverstone Books @riverstonebookstore  Your classic independent bookstore with all your new book needs. The selection is wide and varied with a large kids section in the back! Caliban Bookshop @calibanbookshop  Across the street from the local Universities, this selection skews high brow and scholarly.  Posman Books @posmanbooks  I have been to most locations of this US bookstore chain and I am never disappointed. Plus this one had ice cream in store!  Another Bookstore I didn’t have time to visit Alphabet City (City of Asylum Bookstore)- @cityofasylumbooks  This space is a sanctuary for artists and writers who are seeking asylum from persecution. They offer them homes so they can continue to create! Their bookstore is also a community event space and restaurant. There seems to be something going on most nights so make sure to check them out! For food… can’t go wrong with Primanti Bros Their second most selling item is the “Pitts-burger” and Cheese that is piled with meat, coleslaw and french fries! It’s so yum and a must get when visiting #bookishtravel #pittsburgh #booksta
