Netflix (netflix) has officially confirmed a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters (kpopdemonhuntersnetflix)! 

Maggie Kang (nutmags) and Chris Appelhans are both coming back to continue this wild story. 

Maggie Kang said via Netflix, “I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters. There’s so much more to this world we have built and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.”

Since KDH was such a huge success both as an animated film and as a music-driven project, the sequel definitely comes with both major hype and major pressure. 

But like Maggie Kang said, this is only the beginning, so now we’re seriously hoping the next chapter goes even bigger.

이번에도 역시 매기 강 (nutmags)과 크리스 애플한스가 이 엄청난 세계관을 이어갈 예정인데요.

매기 강은 넷플릭스를 통해 “한국인 감독으로서 관객들이 이 한국 이야기와 한국 캐릭터들의 다음 이야기를 더 보고 싶어 한다는 사실이 정말 자랑스럽습니다. 우리가 만든 이 세계에는 아직 보여줄 것이 훨씬 더 많고, 여러분께 그것을 보여줄 생각에 무척 기대됩니다. 이제 시작일 뿐이에요.” 라고 밝혔습니다.

애니메이션으로서도, 음악 프로젝트로서도 엄청난 성공을 거둔 케데헌인 만큼 속편에 대한 기대와 부담이 동시에 존재할 텐데요.

“이제 시작일 뿐”이라는 매기 강의 말처럼 더 거대한 이야기가 펼쳐질 속편을 기대해봅니다!
