On the island of Kauai, visitors can take part in a special program called “Shelter Dogs on Field Trips,” where tourists check a dog out of the local humane society for a day of adventure. Organized by the Kauai Humane Society, the program pairs shelter dogs with travelers who want a hiking buddy, a beach companion, or simply a furry friend to explore the island with. 🐾 

The experience is more than just a fun vacation activity. Spending time outside the shelter helps the dogs build confidence, practice social skills, and often increases their chances of being adopted.
