Today we visit “The Lone Star State” for our Army ROTC #CadetOfTheWeek 🎉 

Meet Luisa De La Garza, a junior majoring in Criminal Justice at the University of Texas – Arlington. 

She joined #ArmyROTC to become a better leader and develop stronger discipline. 

“Since I was a kid, I have always wanted to be in the Army and be part of something greater
than myself. I envision myself becoming an Infantry officer and one day earning my Ranger
tab, then transitioning into Military Intelligence to lead and develop a higher level of
operational skills.”

As a member of the Maverick Battalion, De La Garza has held numerous leadership roles and is part of the Sam Houston Rifle, Color Guard, and the ODM Ranger Challenge Team.

“Joining ROTC has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only have I
developed meaningful friendships, but I have also been given incredible opportunities to
lead.”

De La Garza is motivated to lead by her father who motivates her to be better in everything she sets out to do. 

“I have always seen him find solutions to problems and never quit. Seeing him wake up every day
motivates me to be the best I can be, not just for myself, but for both of us.”

Fun fact: De La Garza loves boxing and has competed in national-level tournaments.
