Celebrating the pioneers of our industry this Women’s History Month ✨

Long before women were widely recognized in the show ring, Loula Long Combs was already making history as one of America’s most well-known horsewomen and the National Western Stock Show was part of her journey.

In 1912, Loula Long and her famous horse Revelation rode into Denver and into Stock Show history. Known for her grace, determination, and undeniable talent, Loula captivated audiences while competing at the highest level in the horse show world.

Years later, in her 1947 autobiography, Loula shared a memorable moment from Revelation’s time at Stock Show—imagining what her legendary horse might have been thinking during his final appearance in the ring:

“Revelation…has been perhaps the best-known harness horse that has ever pranced over the tanbark in America, and his record of prize winning has never been equaled… He won his first blue ribbon at the Denver horse show 13 years ago, and in the years that have rolled by since, he has appeared in the rings from Madison Square Garden to the Pacific Coast.”

That night marked Revelation’s final public show. Loula Long Combs helped pave the way for generations of young horsewomen to follow. Her story remains an important part of our history.
