WOW! I can’t help but tear up! When I was 20, I moved to Los Angeles to get a degree in performing arts. After I got that degree, I realized I didn’t want to persue performing as a career. I didn’t want to regurgitate someone else’s words and be told NO! 9 out of 10 auditions. I hate being told that I can’t do something. (I have a problem with authority) 😬 I found most joy in doing my own thing. Directing, set decorating, and producing. I realized I wanted to be the creator of most projects. I wanted to be able to tell stories through my lens in hopes that they would inspire others to look at the world creatively. After working at creative places like Disneyland, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Michaels and a social media company,  I realized these jobs inspired me and taught me things, but not one of them fulfilled me entirely. It wasn’t until I discovered posting my work on TikTok and IG that I truly found what set my soul ablaze. I created Practical Peculiarites in the midst of the pandemic. It was supposed to be an outlet for me to release all of my creative energy. I got to use every one of the different disciplines that I love so much. Baking, crafting, decorating, producing, editing, idea making, vintage shopping and being me. It took a whole decade for me to find this fulfillment. I am so proud of where I am today and grateful for all the opportunities that have found me thus far. I have so much to look forward this year alone. Never did I think I was going to be a published author, be on an Amazon prime tv show as a judge with horror legends, own a cool house, or be engaged to one of the most amazing people I have ever met. In my 20’s, I was driven by this quote by the great Stephen Sondheim “Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor.” (Into the Woods) This is why I’ve jumped around so much. I wanted to experience EVERYTHING! I took a lot of opportunities that were available which lead me to the next and the next all while obtaining coveted knowledge.
