A major investment is coming to Stockton’s youth.

Vice Mayor Jason Lee says his nonprofit, the Hollywood Cares Foundation, has been awarded $12.4 million in California state funding to help build the “I Am Ready Stockton Youth Center.” The planned facility will offer mental health services, mentorship and life-skills programming for young people in the community.

The project is part of California’s effort to strengthen behavioral health systems across the state, with the center expected to open by 2028 in South Stockton. 

Community leaders say projects like this can help expand access to youth support and mental health resources.
