Reform UK councillor Jaymey McIvor has reacted after Epping Council lost its appeal to stop asylum seekers from being housed at the Bell Hotel in Epping.

Speaking following the court decision, McIvor said the ruling would not affect ongoing protests from local residents and campaigners who oppose the use of the hotel for asylum accommodation. He stated that demonstrations would continue until the hotel is closed and no longer used to house asylum seekers.

Epping Forest District Council had challenged the government’s use of the Bell Hotel as accommodation for asylum seekers, arguing that it was not an appropriate long-term solution and raised concerns from local residents. However, the appeal was unsuccessful, meaning the current arrangements can continue.

McIvor says many in the community remain frustrated with the decision and insists protests will continue despite the court ruling.
