On Wednesday, March 11th, the University of Saint Joseph (CT) announced the hiring of Adam Houli as the first-ever head coach for the men’s ice hockey program. Both the women’s and men’s teams will begin competition for the 2026-2027 season and will join the #MASCAC for the following season.

Houli, a native of Howell, NJ, graduated from Trinity College in 2011 while being a four-year player for the Bantams, wearing the ‘C’ his senior season. In 102 career games, he put together 36 goals & 38 assists for 74 points. He’d be named to the All-#NESCAC First Team his junior season and the Second Team in his sophomore season. The Bantams won the NESCAC as the sixth-seed during his freshman year, winning only their second-ever title while appearing in the NCAA Tournament.

Houli spent two seasons playing for the Danbury Whalers in the Federal Hockey League (FHL) his first two years after college. He’d appear in 35 regular season games tallying 11 goals & 19 assists for 30 points. He’d appear in 7 playoff games in the 2012 postseason. 

His coaching career began in 2017 as he founded and served as Head Coach/General Manager of the New Jersey 87’s of the Eastern Hockey League (EHL). In his eight seasons, the program won five league championships and two postseason titles. Houli oversaw all aspects of program development, including recruiting, budgeting, staffing, scheduling and player advancement as numerous student-athletes went on to play at the NCAA Division I & III levels.

Most recently, Houli was the Head Coach for the Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the 2025-2026 season. In addition, he also served as an Assistant Coach of Team USA during the 2022 Maccabi Games where they won gold.

Houli officially begins his role with the Blue Jays on Monday, March 16th.
