One of our goals at cresseysportsperformance is to attack arm care thoroughly, so you need to have a comprehensive program collection of exercises. Here are a few options that complement some of the classics:

1. Band-Resisted 1-arm Serratus Wall Slides w/Valslides & Contralateral Thoracic Rotation - chase the rotational component of scapular upward rotation and leverage the ability of the upper fibers of serratus anterior to create thoracic rotation to the opposite side

2. Wall Slides w/Upward Rotation & Lift-off - attack scapular upward rotation and posterior tilt, plus chase some length through the long head of the triceps

3. Prone External Rotation End-Range Lift-off to Internal Rotation - learn to apply force into internal rotation from a position of end-range external rotation (instead of just cranking through the elbow)

4. Half-Kneeling 90/90 External Rotation Holds - create active control of the increased passive external rotation throwers possess

5. Pronation/Supination End-Range Iso Holds w/Dowel - get all the benefits of isometric work in positions that really matter for throwers (extensive pronation and supination)

Give these a shot and let us know what you think in the comments section. And, check out www.SturdyShoulders.com to learn more about how I assess, coach, and program at the shoulder.
