Directed by Chris Cameron (chriscameron.me), the short film is set in a post-apocalyptic United States that feels less like science fiction and more like a return to the Old West. The story follows a lone man hunting down a vigilante who has stolen a bag of vital medical supplies—supplies desperately needed to save a small group of civilians clinging to survival. What begins as a pursuit quickly becomes a moral reckoning, forcing both hunter and hunted to confront what they are willing to sacrifice to stay alive.

Starring Jonathan James (jonathoncjames), Rico Martinez-Shepherd (_ricoms_), and Michael Burdick (groovelinereborn), Last Man’s Land is a modern western rooted in tension, restraint, and ethical ambiguity. Violence is never gratuitous, and heroism is never guaranteed. In a world without law, every choice carries consequence.

At its core, the film asks a haunting question: what would America become if AI, infrastructure, and technology failed us completely? With progress erased, would people rise to protect one another—or seize the opportunity to dominate what remains? The film leaves that answer deliberately unresolved, reflecting a society caught between cooperation and collapse.

Last Man’s Land draws inspiration from films like No Country for Old Men, The Rover, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, as well as the brutal moral landscapes found in Blood Meridian. Sparse dialogue, stark environments, and simmering tension define its visual language.

Created as a proof-of-concept, the short film is designed for festivals with the long-term goal of expanding into a feature-length project. Last Man’s Land doesn’t offer easy answers—it offers a mirror, asking audiences to consider who we become when the systems we depend on disappear.
