4⃣ cities have been shortlisted to become European Capital of Culture 2031 in Spain 🇪🇸

Congratulations to:
💜Cáceres
💜Granada
💜Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
💜Oviedo

The recommendation was made by an independent European panel of experts following a week-long meeting in Madrid. We thank all applicants for their interest and engagement in the competition.

The shortlisted cities will now prepare revised bids ahead of the final selection in December 2026.

In 2031, Spain and Malta will each host a European Capital of Culture, supported by Creative Europe, helping cities shape their future through culture.
