Candace joined underarmour 8 years ago because of her passion for innovating and making quality product that performs for the athlete. Below, she shares how #UnderArmour prioritizes #sustainability and the #environment as we develop products, and what role she plays in bettering the industry.

“UA is addressing sustainability in many ways, but my involvement is specific to reducing microplastics entering our environment. Why clean the microplastics out of the waterways when we can make the effort to not contribute in the first place? We have developed a widely accessible method and equipment test kit to measure the level of fiber shedding a fabric has. We are using these to purposefully develop fabrics with reduced fiber shedding. 

Not only do we have industry wide partnerships helping with publishing the method and developing the test kit, but the plan is to openly share both within and beyond our industry to help reduce the contribution of microplastics into our environment.

We help uphold the promise that our gear performs as the consumer expects every time. Having access to a wide range of quick testing in our lab on campus allows us to make well educated, data driven decisions, quickly when choosing what fabrics represent UA every season.”
