The Power of Community, Business, and Passion: The Journey Reviving The Asian Football Awards ⚽️

Bringing back the Asian Football Awards after seven years has been a truly transformative experience, teaching me invaluable lessons about community, business, and the power of diverse voices.

From a community standpoint, it was incredible to unite the South Asian football community, not only at the main event at Wembley Stadium but also at our summer launch event at Stoke Park. We amplified South Asian concerns in mainstream media, giving this vital conversation the platform it deserves.

On the business side, securing buy-in from the UK’s major footballing bodies and convincing influential businesses to support our cause was a formidable challenge—but one I embraced with determination. The event’s success stands as a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved, and there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing months of planning come to fruition.

What I’ve realised is that reviving these awards wasn’t just about football—it was about something much greater. It was about diversity, representation, and the collective strength of a community. This journey has been an important step in my personal development. I took on various roles—salesperson, event organiser, designer, and diversity advocate—each of which has taught me valuable lessons that I will carry forward into the next event.

A huge thank you to the team, the community, and the businesses that believed in this cause. The buzz after the event was unmatched, and I’m already excited to start planning for the next one!
