Minimalism is about having things that you actually use. Also is doing things that will help you to reach the lifestyle you want. So by focus in only have what you need and only do what you need to reach the life you want you become more light, more happy, more efficient and naturally ended up reaching your goals. 

I also learn a lot about minimalism on my motorbike trips. You don't have space and you don't want to worry about extra weight and where are you going to leave your stuff.
