2026 is here, and it’s time to put in the work to progress your development.

But … What does “development” actually mean?

Too many young athletes are becoming obsessed with pushing themselves looking like they’re working hard on social media posting workouts, box jumps, weights, and sweat clips for likes and praise.

But here’s the truth:

If you can’t shoot or dribble at a high level, none of that matters.

Real development isn’t about constantly doing what you’re already good at. That’s comfort. That’s ego. and that’s stagnation. You can’t avoid training sessions where you expose your weaknesses.

True growth comes from attacking your weaknesses.

- The uncomfortable stuff.
- The skills you avoid.
- The reps that don’t look cool on Instagram.

That’s where real improvement happens, building new skills, resilience, and development of actual basketball IQ. That’s neuroplasticity in action: your brain and body adapting through effort, struggle, and repetition… not likes. 🙏🤷🏻‍♂️

In a world so driven by instant gratification, kids are more likely to post what they’re good at instead of working on what they actually need to improve.

Lifting weights, running suicides, and doing plyometrics will not change the fact that you can’t handle the ball or knock down shots under pressure.

And make no mistake, it’s getting harder than ever to reach college basketball.

NIL and the transfer portal mean fewer development spots. Many prospects will be pushed toward JUCO or Prep programs unless they bring real, undeniable skill and demonstrate clear value to a program.

“Exposure” doesn’t replace ability.

Work doesn’t count if it’s not the right work.

If you want to make big leaps in 2026 - Develop your game, not your highlight reel. #2026 #skillsdevelopment #hardworkpaysoff #basketballtraining
