It’s hard to even find the words to explain what the past 2 weeks have been like.

Since my ATV accident, my body hasn’t felt like my own. I’ve been dealing with daily nosebleeds that come without warning, slurred speech that makes it difficult to express myself the way I used to, and a constant mental fog that leaves me feeling lost inside my own thoughts. Every single day is a battle — not just physically, but emotionally.

The pain in my arm and back is excruciating — the kind of pain that doesn’t let you forget for even a moment what you’ve been through. Simple tasks that once felt automatic now require effort, patience, and strength I didn’t know I’d need so early in my life.

On top of that, I’ve now been scheduled for a follow-up kidney surgery this February due to complications from my previous procedure. Hearing those words again — “another surgery” — is something no one in their early 20s ever expects.

I’m scared.

I’m scared of what all of this means for my future, for my health, for the life I thought I would be living right now. It’s overwhelming to face the uncertainty of recovery when you’re still so young and still trying to figure out who you are and where your life is headed.

But I’m also trying — every single day — to hold onto hope. To remind myself that healing isn’t always linear. That strength doesn’t always look like standing tall — sometimes it looks like simply making it through another day.

If there’s one thing this experience is teaching me, it’s that our bodies are fragile, time is precious, and resilience is something you discover when you don’t have another choice.

Please keep me in your thoughts as I navigate this next chapter — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I’m still here. I’m still fighting. And I’m not giving up. #SamanthaSamaka #MissIntercontinental #MissIntercontinentalRwanda #MissIntercontinental2026 #MissUniverseCanada
