I used to want to help everyone.
Show up for everyone.
Carry everyone.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that I wasn’t helping myself.
Eventually, that caught up to me.

I had a conversation with a friend once. She told me her favorite person in the world used to be her sister.
Until she noticed a pattern, whenever her sister was upset with her, or something went wrong between them, it would completely throw her off.
Her mood. Her energy. Her peace.

I told her something that had been saving me.
I call myself MRfavorito.
Not out of ego. Out of responsibility.

It’s a reminder that I have to be my own favorite person first. Because when I don’t take care of myself, I start depending on other people for validation, stability, and peace. That’s a weight no one else is meant to carry.

There is a scripture that warns us against “worshipping and serving the creature more than the Creator.” (Romans 1:25)

We often think of idolatry as golden statues, but it happens in relationships, too. When we make another person the sole source of our stability, we are unintentionally idolizing them. We are asking a human to do a job only God (and our own self-responsibility) can do.

The more I take care of myself, the better I’m able to take care of others.
That’s not selfish. That’s alignment.

HELP. Yourself.
