This ancient city overlooking the Arabian Sea hides many more stories to reveal than you can imagine. Much of Indian mythology has its roots in Vedic texts, written between 1500 and 500 BC. The Vedas contain hymns, prayers and rituals dedicated to the gods and the forces of nature which here, among the narrow alleys and the myriad of ancient temples, come to life in epic moments that bring emotions, symbolism and moral teachings. It is fascinating to walk along the beach and observe the constant presence of pilgrims who come here with devotion from all over India. In the air dense with incense and spice, mysterious rites are witnessed which still today manage to create very controversial suggestions in anyone who ventures into this place. The ferment of the crowds that saturate every corner of the city, the calm chaos of the prayers, the sun veiled by the smoke of the burning stacks, the melodies and the bells that embrace the fatality of existence.
