Schrödinger’s 🐈 house

The scene tells us of an entire existence enclosed in one shot and recalls the often counterintuitive but revelatory mystery of a time that is not what we have always imagined. Among my experiences is the moment that best describes that paradox of modern physics that tries to explain to us that the past does not exist as it no longer exists, the future does not exist as it does not yet exist, while the present, as in this case, it seems to enclose them both in an eternal instant that separates the before from the after. Time thus becomes a place in space.
We are in the north of Pakistan on the Afghan border where over the centuries the Waki people have settled and gave rise to small mountain communities. They inhabit wooden houses with typical decorated ceilings and large spaces for storing food and supplies of dried fruit, dried meat and hay. Dealing with the long winter is a challenge for the whole family and the flocks they raise.

La scena ci racconta di un’esistenza intera racchiusa in uno scatto e richiama il mistero spesso contro intuitivo ma rivelatorio di un tempo che non è ciò che abbiamo sempre immaginato. Tra le mie esperienze è l’attimo che meglio descrive quel paradosso della fisica moderna che prova a spiegarci che il passato non esiste in quanto non è più, il futuro non esiste in quanto non è ancora, mentre il presente, come in questo caso, sembra racchiuderli entrambi in un eterno istante che separa il prima dal dopo. Il tempo diventa così un luogo nello spazio.   
Siamo nel nord del Pakistan sul confine afghano dove nei secoli il popolo waki si è insediato ed ha dato origine a piccole comunità montane. Abitano case in legno dai tipici soffitti decorati e grandi spazi per conservare il cibo e i rifornimenti di frutta secca, carne essiccata e fieno. Affrontare il lungo inverno è una sfida per l’intera famiglia e le greggi che essi allevano.
