Kitten update! (And explanation of red and black cats)
🩷 Kahlan (Capella), this gorgeous princess is going to stay with me, and her nose is really similar to her big sister Sabrina from gibson.arts , who crossed the sea with her sister Bella to their forever home with their amazing family, and I’ll be forever grateful for their trust. 
Kahlan’s name is a tribute to #kahlanamnell , a character I will always love and the exquisite interpretation made by bridgetregan (one of my favorite actresses) some years ago. 

As the talented Bridget, our little Kahlan Capella shines both as dark haired and redhead! As some of you may know, the red and black (and all their dilutions) cats are almost always females, because the color is in the X chromosome, and there is eumelanin (black) and feomelanin (red/orange). Ergo, females, XX, can have a black X and a red X, but males, XY, only have one color (white doesn’t count). Tortie males exist, but they have a trisomy, a genetic disorder called Klinefelter syndrome (XXY) and they are sterile. 

This cats are called #tortie because a “tortoise shell” is also red and black. And, added to it, if a tortie (or torbie if they are also stripped/tabby/lynx) has her face color split in half, like this kitten’s nose, is sometimes called chimaera, but not her or Sabrina are genetically chimaeras, they are simply gorgeous and symmetrical. 

Hopefully, this little warrior princess will become a mom in some years, leading the way to the next generation.
