I know I shouldn’t be surprised that women are trying to grift other women, but here’s the plain honest truth — and credit where it’s due: Sarah Berg (selfority and via unbiasedscipod), MD’s piece “Separating Menopause Medicine From Menopause Marketing” is excellent and essential reading._

Menopause is real. The marketplace is cashing in faster than science can catch up. You’ve seen the ads, the clinics, the glowing pics promising sleep, libido, and “balanced” hormones. Here’s what actually matters, pulled from Berg’s sharp reporting:

- Compounded “bioidentical” creams and pellets often lack FDA oversight and can deliver unpredictable, sometimes dangerous doses. 

- Pellets can spike hormones to unnaturally high levels with no easy off-switch. Side effects and invasive follow-ups aren’t rare. 

- “O‑creams” and mixed topical stacks? No solid trials prove those cocktail formulas work — and they can carry real risks. 

- Lasers and fancy devices cost thousands but don’t beat cheap, proven options like local vaginal estrogen for most patients. 

- Saliva hormone panels and repeat testing are often misleading — treat symptoms, not a shaky lab number. 

- Supplement stacks, peptides, NAD+ infusions: expensive, under-studied, and marketed as miracles when they’re mostly hype and hope.

If you care about someone going through menopause, tell them: read Berg’s piece, seek evidence, ask for FDA or Health Canada‑approved options, and beware of marketing dressed as medicine. Innovation is fine, but it should come after the data, not before.
