You are not dating an idea, you are dating a human being.

A lot of people fall in love with symbols. Money, beauty, status, lifestyle. They confuse access to comfort with connection, and attraction with character. The problem is that an idea can’t show up for you when things get hard. A car can’t care about you. A face can’t hold you accountable. Status can’t love you back.

People reveal who they are over time through their behavior, their empathy, their integrity, and how they treat others when there is nothing to gain. When you fall in love with the idea someone represents, you stop seeing the person in front of you. And that is how people end up attached to narcissists, manipulators, and emotionally unavailable partners.

Attraction opens the door, but character determines whether you stay. If you want something real, stop dating projections and start paying attention to who someone actually is.
