I had an inspiring conversation with Thomas Power, an entrepreneur, mentor, and founder of the BIP100 Club, an exclusive community for business owners. 

During our discussion, Thomas shared some fascinating thoughts on the importance of understanding new technologies: “You learn and you study and you network and you read and you try and get underneath a subject. I’m a historian by trade, so I know how important history is. In many ways, history repeats itself in a different form. It’s not exactly the same, but it always says history rhymes, and it does rhyme, but you still have to know what that means.”

He also discussed the need to stay at the cutting edge of technology: “The reason I’ve survived this long and continue to be on the cutting edge of everything—and not just technology but everything—is because I get my energy from being at the cutting edge, from reading and studying and learning. I still even get replies on Twitter from Elon Musk.”

Thomas highlighted how embracing change can lead to new opportunities: “By keeping yourself right on the front, right on the cutting edge, you discover where the opportunities are, where the impact is, where the margin is, where the opportunity to build a balance sheet, raise capital, hire people, where it all sits.”
