The most beautiful vintage Midcentury c1960s 18K natural untreated ruby red star 21.8 carat sapphire oval cabochon 🌟🩷 Size 6, easily resizable. Weighs 23 grams (!!!!). Star sapphires (and star rubies) are already a rare subset of corundum. Only a small percentage of sapphires mined worldwide show the precise arrangement of rutile inclusions needed for the star effect (asterism) to be visible re red corundum with asterisk-visible asterism (i.e., natural star rubies) occur far less often than blue or other colored star sapphires. Red star sapphire are the rarest in nature FYI! In fact, some gem sources note that **star sapphires of any hue are found in well under 1% of mined sapphire rough, and natural red variants are among the rarest within that already small group.
