SEBI clarified that it does NOT regulate Digital Gold, even though Indians have invested more than ₹1,100 crore through various platforms. Digital Gold is marketed like physical gold without making charges, but it carries hidden costs.
 
💡 Key risks you should know
✔ Digital Gold has a 3% buy and sell spread, higher than physical gold
✔ No SEBI regulation, unlike Gold ETFs or gold derivatives
✔ Exposed to platform risk, storage risk and pricing risk
✔ Not the same as SGBs, ETFs or Gold Mutual Funds, which are regulated
✔ SEBI has warned platforms against implying they are regulated
