Time is a gift, not a guarantee. As a former hostage negotiator and detective who has seen the fragility of life firsthand, I know the profound truth in those words. I've had the somber duty of delivering news that shatters worlds, knocking on doors to tell families their loved ones are never coming home. Car accidents, drownings, and the heartbreaking reality of children battling cancer nearby – these experiences remind me daily that life isn't promised for 30, 50, or even another single year.
It's easy to take moments for granted, assuming we have endless tomorrows. But with every sunrise, remember that life is a precious gift. How you choose to spend it, how you choose to live, is entirely up to you.
Let the people you love know you appreciate them. Make sure they feel it. Because we truly have no idea what's in store for us, or for them. We could be here one day and gone the next.
