👇🏼 Day 8 of our 2-Week New Zealand Itinerary ⛰️🚘🌿

We’ve spent over 10 months in this amazing country, and in this series, we’re sharing exactly how we recommend spending 2 weeks road tripping around the South Island 😍

Here’s how we suggest spending Day 8:

⛰️ Morning: Wake up in Aoraki Mount Cook

Put on your hiking clothes and pack up your vehicle before you leave Mount Cook Village.

🥾Midday: Pukaki Kettle Hole Track

On your way out, stop by the Pukaki Kettle Hole Track for an easy 3.7 km / 2.3 miles hike (return). Bring lunch and enjoy it while overlooking Lake Pukaki and Aoraki Mount Cook 🤯

🚘 Early afternoon: Head to Tekapo

Today’s an easy driving day with less than 1.5 hours in total. After the hike, you’ve got 30 minutes before you reach Tekapo.

Once you get there, go for a fresh dip in the lake, visit the town & the famous Church of the Good Shepherd.

Take it easy this afternoon, read a good book, and maybe nap in the sun so you can stay up for tonight’s activity…

🌌 Evening: Stargazing & hot springs

At 9.15pm, 10.45pm, or 1am (depending on the season), join the 1.5-hour-long stargazing experience.

The tour is divided into 3 sections:

1️⃣First, you’ll be welcomed with a hot drink of your choice (we went with hot chocolate), and there’s a little quiz about the night sky.

2️⃣Then, you have about 45 minutes with a guide where you look at the night sky through a telescope and learn about the southern hemisphere, the stars, and the planets. You can also see the Milky Way with your own eyes, which is amazing.

3️⃣ And for the last part of the tour, you soak in the hot springs and gaze at the stars while a guide is telling you stories and legends about the night sky from the Māori culture and other cultures.
