Eccentric exercises (where the muscle lengthens under load) is known to increase the chances of DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and also creating problems sitting on the toilet…

Building up over time (slowly increasing load, sets, reps or weight) can help reduce that, as well as maintaining a similar program based on goals without too much unnecessary chopping and changing…

It can be a part of training, but like Goldilocks. We want it just right. Meaning it may happen, but it also may not, it’s not a sign of exercise being effective or not. And if it happens, we don’t want it to affect your life for the rest of the week.

In saying that, many of us have been there. Where stairs, chairs and toilets become the enemy…
