Return to play Testing at Fit Clinic

Ella and I going through a few tests prior to a full return into competitive gymnastics.

Late 2023, Ella sprained her ACL. Except what would normally be <12 weeks, turned into many more months after being one of the few that have unknown pain symptoms inhibiting muscle and rehab progressions. 

But we got there eventually after throwing the kitchen sink at it for a while.

Knee was great. Out Rollerblading. And stack…. Breaking her dominant wrist. 6 weeks in a cast. Now 6 weeks more since the cast is off, with some progressively increased loads on the arm while continuing lower limb work. We are at the point of discharge (pending still not doing too much too soon due to lack of full training over the last months).

Will still need to follow typical progressive overload strategy having not done some skills in a while, and may lack tolerance to volume especially some specific gymnastics skills. For a short while at least

So we did some tests to see if left and right are back to normal and within expected limits. Good news all size, strength and tests are within normal limits. 

Arm size went from 1cm diff to 1mm. Right dominant quad size is actually bigger now even though it was the injured one (it’s her jump leg so make sense). Single leg jump and hop tests back to pre injury

- Force and grip tests
- Hop, bounds and jumps
- As well as compression and traction type stress to see if any concerns
