Reading an article or watching the news about a humanitarian crisis gives you a glimpse of the challenges, but being on the ground and directly involved is an entirely different and deeply personal experience.

📖 Swipe left to dive into the journey and see the stories behind these humanitarian efforts.

When you visit #Afghanistan, it’s unlikely you won’t find yourself involved in some form of humanitarian work. Whether it’s helping a person, a family, or an entire community, the needs are vast, and every effort matters.

Over the past two years, I’ve journeyed across Afghanistan, visiting some of its most remote and crisis-hit regions—earthquake-stricken villages in Herat (southwest), snowbound valleys in Nuristan (east), and high-altitude Kyrgyz communities in the Pamir (northeast). These experiences opened my eyes to the immense challenges people face daily: extreme isolation, lack of healthcare, malnutrition, clean water scarcity, lack of basic infrastructure like power and roads, and the impacts of climate change. It’s clear that Afghanistan, as a post-conflict nation, is grappling with multiple crises simultaneously—each one devastating in its own right. The effects of war may have faded from global media, but the legacy of conflict continues to disrupt lives in ways that only those who visit can truly understand.

To those involved in humanitarian work in 2025, I hope this post gives a glimpse into the struggles Afghan people are facing and the challenges they continue to endure. This post is a nudge to help you reflect on some of the serious challenges #Afghanistan faces.
