#ThrowbackThursday to my very first event. I was 24 😅

2014. #InternationalWomensDay. We called it “Beautiful.”

It was simple. Free makeovers, free food, free music. Just come by and enjoy.

We couldn’t afford a venue, so we did it at Lafayette Park in LA. We couldn’t afford color printing either, so the flyers were just printed on different colored paper.

The makeup artists volunteered their time. Everyone else donated whatever they could.

And every woman who walked in the door was welcomed and celebrated.

Most people don’t know I was raised by a single mother. I saw her struggle so much. Tears on a beautiful face. She rarely treated herself.

When she heard about the event, she was so proud she literally drove to Vegas, used all of her comps, raided the gift shop, and came back with a mountain of snacks for us to give out.

And yes… this is also proof I wasn’t always good at live hosting 😆
