What a wonderful half-term holiday on the island of Crete 🇬🇷☀️ We stayed at Village Heights Resort, tucked away in the mountains—a peaceful, tropical-feeling escape surrounded by butterflies, olive trees, and fresh herbs growing in the gardens. One of the pools is heated (perfect for shoulder season), and there’s even a little cat café the kids fell in love with 🐈‍⬛

The a la carte restaurant, Rodies, served genuinely great food. The buffet was fairly average, as is often the case at family resorts. The location is ideal for families wanting a break from the busy tourist towns—super peaceful and a great base if you hire a car (which I’d recommend). Some of the best Greek food I’ve had was in local tavernas in the nearby mountain villages. And Sissi is well worth a visit—a picture-perfect harbour with lovely restaurants and bars on the water.

One thing to flag: the kids club could do with more engaging activities (it was mostly painting while we were there), and there was an issue where children could wander out unsupervised. To their credit, the staff took it seriously, apologised, and by the time we left, that had been addressed—they’d put up signage and improved the gate situation.

A big shout out to the personal trainer Manos manos_markakis who ran the daily fitness class a great PT , HIIT, legs, abs, the lot! He definitely kept me moving and helped offset all the gyros 😅

Overall, we had a beautiful stay. The Greek staff were warm and welcoming, the service was excellent, and the massage at the spa was a real treat. We’d absolutely go back 💙
