I can’t believe this happened!?

17 hours at Lassicourt… that’s all I had.
Sometimes the odds are completely stacked against you — and yet, somehow, everything just clicks.

Last week, I was covering a small lake a few hours east of Bordeaux. Unfortunately, the scorching heat had shut the carp down completely, making for a very tough week. Fast forward to Thursday afternoon — I made the decision to pull off a day early and head to my next venue the following morning.

Then more drama… The lake I was meant to be on next wasn’t free until Saturday morning, which left me needing a last-minute spot for just one night.

Lassicourt was the solution — a venue that had literally just been listed with anglinglines that very same day.

I arrived at the lake around 1pm, grabbed a few quick photos and videos, and then set up the bare essentials for a proper ‘quick’ overnighter. I chose Swim 3 in the blazing 35°C heat, and having seen fish moving in the margins, I felt confident in my spots.

Luckily, there was already a boat with an engine and battery ready for use. By 4pm, the rods were out — all positioned with intent.

I went in heavy with bait: a mix of surreycarpparticles and ccmooreuk boilies. Rigs were double tiger nuts balanced with cork and topped with plastic corn to avoid the crayfish, wrapped in paste, and sent out with 60lb mono leaders and 4oz leads. I wasn’t taking any chances.

What followed was one of those sessions — a true red-letter evening:
9 takes, 7 landed carp, all in just a few hours.

Baiting hard to the snags where I’d seen them was the key. Everything that could have gone right, did.

I was gutted to leave the next morning, but to capture what normally takes me a week (or longer) in under 24 hours… unreal. Sometimes the stars really do align.

Lassicourt is an absolutely epic venue — one I’d love to revisit and spend proper time at.
If you’re interested in booking it, check it out on the anglinglines website!
