Stone Mountain Park ⛰️🚠 

Was amused and delighted by how round and bald the giant rock mountain was. The surface full of holes, just like how textbook pictures of the moon have craters except this one’s probably just eroded over the years. There was also a man practicing martial arts by himself. Couples with their heads on each other’s shoulders staring into the distance. Toddlers in awe at riding a cable car for the first time.

As we were taking the cable car up, I noticed all the staff had one extra fun fact about themselves under their name tag — the man who drove us up’s said “I like video games”, , the lady that drove us down’s said “I collect pikachus” and sure enough she was wearing a pikachu mask and had a plush pikachu in stone mountain merch pinned to her waist. 

I was curious to see more so I ran up to random staff and asked “Hey, what does your tag say?” — another girls’ said “I like watching horror movies” and she gave me recommendations to check out. It’s just a great way to humanize service workers and help customers view them not as another cog in the machine, a simple means to an end, but a real person with a life and hobbies. I hope more places can adopt the practice.

We spent the whole day just hiking and walking around, and I found myself missing Ithaca hikes just a little.
